“What’s in it for the donors?” – motivations behind voluntary funding of specialized agencies of the UN

The main research question of my PhD dissertation is: “What motivates donors to earmark voluntary contributions to specialized agencies of the UN to particular countries?”. More specifically, the research focuses on the advantages that donors may draw through such geographic earmarking decisions.
