"Population displacement, space management and society fragmentation in Syria"

This PhD thesis aims at analysing the population displacement and resettelment policies implemented in Syria since the 60's and the impacts it has had on the structures of the Syrian society. How does this management of population within the space enables the regime to put the different social groups composing the Syrian society into competition, in order to constantly reshift its alliances and remain at power? The aim is not to only focus on the current conflict, but to have a historical perspective in order to see how the former population displacement and resettlement policies have fed the hostility existing between different social groups and therefore contributed to the current crisis.
