The Role of the Business Sector in the Implementation of the Principles of Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)

This dissertation seeks to understand why companies engage in direct interpretation and voluntary implementation of norms related to biodiversity conservation and access and benefits sharing (ABS). It will also demonstrate how that voluntarism interplays with and influences government policies and international norms elaboration. The study will comprise two case studies from cosmetics industry in Brazil.
