Ce module, proposé chaque année dans le cadre du programme doctoral de la CUSO en science politique, s’adresse en priorité aux doctorant·e·s en début de thèse. Il vise à les accompagner dans la réflexion autour de leur design de recherche, une étape fondamentale pour construire un projet doctoral cohérent et rigoureux.

L’atelier se déroule en deux temps :

• Le premier jour (14 novembre 2025) sera consacré à une introduction aux différents types de design de recherche en science politique et relations internationales, avec un accent mis sur les choix méthodologiques, la logique du raisonnement empirique et les critères de qualité d’un bon design.

• Le second jour (12 décembre 2025) sera dédié aux présentations des participant·e·s, qui auront l’occasion de partager et discuter leur propre projet de design de recherche, et de recevoir des retours de la part de l’enseignant·e et des autres doctorant·e·s.

L’atelier offre un cadre interactif et bienveillant pour avancer dans la conception de son projet doctoral, échanger autour des défis méthodologiques et renforcer la qualité du travail de recherche.

This annual module, offered as part of the CUSO doctoral program in political science, is primarily intended for PhD students in the early stages of their dissertation. It aims to support them in reflecting on their research design, a crucial step in building a coherent and rigorous doctoral project.

The workshop is structured over two days:

• The first day (14 November 2025) will be dedicated to an introduction to different types of research design in political science and international relations, with a focus on methodological choices, the logic of empirical inquiry, and the key criteria of a strong research design.

• The second day (12 December 2025) will be devoted to student presentations, giving each participant the opportunity to present and discuss their own research design and receive feedback from the instructor and fellow participants.

The workshop provides an interactive and supportive environment to advance in the development of one's doctoral project, share methodological challenges, and improve the overall quality of the research.
