Résumé de la thèse

The policy field of tobacco control is both miltilevel and multisectoral as well as highly conflictious, thus representing a major governance challenge to public and private actors in their attempt to draft or prevent tobacco regulation.

Although the scientific literature on tobacco politics is extensive, surprisingly little reasearch has addessed the question of how to coordinate these conflicts. My scientific interest will be thus twofold: (1) to know more about the quality of political coordination in multilevel and multifunctional settings in the course of policy making and (2) to know more about the governance mode of public health / tobacco politics and particularly the role of the state as well as of public and private actors.
